Each fracture and injury is different. The healing course is different for everyone. Below you will find general guidelines regarding typical postoperative concerns and information regarding your recovery.
Weightbearing Status
Weight bearing is an important component to your healing fracture or injury. If you put weight on your extremity too soon, the fixation (plates/screws) could loosen and cause your fracture to shift or move. It is crucial you listen to your surgeon regarding weight bearing recommendations.
Smoking
Smoking and nicotine products severely limit your body’s ability to heal and recover. Find out more information regarding it’s negative effects.
Splints/Casts
After surgery or after an injury you maybe placed in a splint or cast. Here you will find information about casts and splints and how to care for them.
